Doreen Clark, MS, CCC-SLP - Director

Doreen is a graduate of Bard College and the University of NC-Chapel Hill. She has been the director of Speech Connection for over seven years. Doreen has had clinical experience with Wake County Schools, Ballard and Assoc., Project Enlightenment, the UNC-CH speech clinic, and the Clinical Center for the Study of Development and Learning's Infant-Toddler Assessment Program team (CDL ITAP). She is the mom of two sons, now in college, who received speech-language therapy as toddlers/preschoolers.

Lisa McCall, MS, CCC-SLP

Lisa received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from James Madison University. She has had clinical experience with young children in private practice and at National Heritage Academy Charter Schools. Lisa is the mom of two elementary school-age children, one girl and one boy.

Stacey Jolly-Lassiter, MS, CCC-SLP

Stacey is a graduate of NC State University and the University of NC-Chapel Hill. She has enjoyed clinical experience with preschoolers and older children during five years in Durham Public Schools, as well as in Wake County Schools. She has provided speech and language services to children with autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, apraxia of speech, cerebral palsy, ADHD, developmental delays, traumatic brain injury, DeGorge Syndrome, Down Syndrome, and speech and language disorders. In addition, Stacey interned with Speech Connection while in graduate school. Since August 2006 she has worked at Speech Connection providing speech and language evaluations and treatment to toddler, preschool and school aged children for language disorders, articulation, apraxia and phonological process disorders. She is proficient with Boardmaker and setting up natural environments to encourage language development. She also has experience working with bilingual families. She is the mom of a one-year-old daughter.

Marie Wedge, MEd, CCC-SLP

Marie is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and Kent State University, and has over twenty-one years of experience in pediatrics. She has worked in settings ranging from public schools in SC and NC, to the Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center, The Center for Speech Pathology in Huntsville AL, Ballard and Associates in Raleigh, the child development department of Duke University Medical Center, and her private practice Wedgeworks here in Raleigh. While in Alabama, Marie served contracts for the UCP preschool program, and the assistive technology and early intervention clinics for northern AL. Besides having extensive knowledge of phonological and language disorders, she has expertise in childhood apraxia of speech, augmentative communication, hearing loss and cochlear implants (including auditory-verbal therapy), auditory processing disorders, autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and sensory processing disorders. Marie is the mother of a five-year-old son (who has a sensory processing disorder).

Verena Daigle, MS, CCC-SLP

Verena worked for Durham schools for six years where she worked extensively with preschoolers, often in community settings. She has provided speech-language treatment to children with Down syndrome, autism, developmental delays, Rett's Syndrome, Lowe's Syndrome, cerebral palsy, ADHD, behavior disorders, traumatic brain injury, learning disabilities, verbal apraxia, and speech-language delays. Verena has significant expertise in and enjoys employing augmentative communication and assistive technology. She is highly proficient with Boardmaker. Before graduate school at UNC-CH, where her studies emphasized the Birth to 3 population, Verena worked as a special education paraprofessional with children with severe hearing impairments. She monitored amplification systems including cochlear implants, personal hearing aids, and related assistive technology. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas. Last but not least, Verena is the mother of a two-year-old daughter.
